In the world of electronic music, creating and releasing a track is an exciting and creative journey. But behind every release, there’s much more than just inspiration. From the very first melody in the studio to publishing on streaming platforms like Spotify and Beatport – every step matters.

1. The Creative Process in the Studio

It all starts with an idea. This could be a catchy melody, a powerful kick, or even a vocal that sparks inspiration. Producers use DAWs such as FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro to bring their ideas to life. Experimenting with sounds, layering, and effects makes every track unique.

2. Mixing & Mastering

Once the track is ready, the technical stage begins: mixing and mastering. Mixing is about balance – making sure every element, from the bassline to the synths, complements each other without clashing. Mastering then gives the track its final polish, ensuring it sounds powerful and professional on every system, from club speakers to earbuds.

3. Collaboration and Feedback

Many producers send their demos to other artists or labels to get feedback. Collaborations are also common in the EDM scene: combining different styles and ideas often results in fresh and innovative tracks.

4. Publishing: Independent or with a Label

When it comes to releasing music, there are two main routes:

  • Independent: releasing your own music through platforms like DistroKid or TuneCore. This gives you full control, but requires more time and effort in marketing.

  • With a label: labels such as HIGHER RECORDINGS provide artists with promotion, networking, and professional support. This often helps a track reach a much larger audience.

5. Promotion and Release Campaign

A strong release doesn’t end with uploading the track. Promotion is key: social media teasers, short videos, aftermovies, or even an official music video can make all the difference. Getting your track heard by DJs, blogs, and Spotify playlist curators is just as important to boost visibility.

6. The Result: The Release

After weeks or even months of hard work, the moment finally arrives: the official release. What started as a simple idea in the studio is now available worldwide, reaching listeners from Amsterdam to Tokyo.
